Ted has shown me by example that a truly Christian life is a subversive one, in which many sacrifices should be made. He has taught me new ways to think about issues ranging from the treatment of indigenous and disadvantaged Australians, to the moral and physical responsibilities of those in positions of privilege. I do not think I will ever again see anyone as willing to “turn the other cheek” as Ted Kennedy; in fact, before he explained it, I would never have known exactly what it meant.
