Hearing about Father Ted Kennedy's philosophy led me to St Vincent's Church in Redfern at a low time in my own faith. I wanted to share in his celebration of faith in God and unconditional acceptance and love of one's neighbour which is the way he has always lived his life. Ted, through his wonderfully insightful interpretation of the Gospels and Readings and his challenging homilies, shows us all a vision for the future. He lives as he speaks and for all those years his physical presence was like a rock and anchor for the aboriginal and distressed people who needed shelter and a compassionate heart and ear. He also encouraged us not to discriminate, not to fear change and to question the established church on these matters. I thank him for helping to begin to restore my respect in a seemingly rigid and righteous church. In this congregation I have met so many caring people.
