A small miracle is taking place at “Sharing the Meal” every Tuesday at St Vincent’s Church, Redfern.

Community Services (formerly DoCS) agreed to allow an access visit between a grandmother and mother of two children – a 4 month old baby and a small 3 year old boy – while their custody case is being investigated. Indigenous school in Redfern presbytery

St Aloysius’ College, Milsons Point is proposing to convert the old St Vincent’s presbytery next to the church into a special school for Aboriginal children. This article appeared in the South Sydney Herald, November 2009

The proposed redevelopment of an unused Redfern presbytery as an Aboriginal school has been met with some opposition.

Eileen

Much loved community matriarch Eileen Burke died last Saturday, February 14, aged 96. An integral part of the Redfern community for so many years, she had been in hospital since last occupying her chair at St Vincent’s on Christmas Eve.

Eileen’s funeral will be held on Friday 20 February at St Vincent’s Church, beginning at 10.30am with “The Placing of Symbols” (on Eileen’s coffin) preceding the requiem mass to be celebrated by Fr John Ford.
